Tips from a new bachelor: #1 - The go-anywhere cutting board.

I have frequently found useful tips that I'd like to share. Some are serious, some are humorous. Today is the first!

Tip #1

My kitchen, as with a lot of bachelors, is cramped for counter space. Finding a place to put a cutting board is hard, when everything else is strewn about, from preparing the rest of the meal. In any case, the cutting board is probably dirty anyway. But you already have an onion in your hand, and you just need to dice a few slices off. To my joy, I found that I was able to use the rest of the onion as a cutting board. Just slice your onion in both hands, as you would cut a summer sausage when you sitting around a campfire. Then, leaving the onion slice in place where it came from, simply cross cut it while holding the onion in your hand. It works beautifully. So there it is. Simple but innovative, as most of these tips will be. I am not sure yet how many other fruits/vegetables this method can be used with.

cheers!

The last half of the day

1 pear = 100 calories
9 crackers + 3 TBS Hummus = 115 calories.

day total = 1447 calories.

hmm.... that about 350 calories short of what I was aiming for. But rather than tack those on now, late at night, I'l just attempt to get closer to my goal of 1800 calories tomorrow.

Future goals

Getting a six pack in a pretty huge goals, but here are some other goals I'd like to hit along the way or afterwards.
  • get motivated w/o music
  • run a 6 minute mile
  • run a 20 minute three mile.

Here goes...

So today I started this new blog. I'd first like to thank you all for reading this. The accountability will help me stay on track.

My new planned daily agenda:

7:10 - wake up continue waking up, drink water and coffee, turn on some peppy music, eat a piece of fruit.
7:35 - cardio exercise.
8:05- shower, eat, do devos, and get dressed.
9:00 be at work.
10:00 eat something small
12:05 get home from work and chill, and eat
1:30 sleep
3:00 wake up and finish any daily tasks
9pm-12pm txt Lisa and do 20 pull-ups, 40 push-ups, and 1 minute of ab exercise.
12:30ish sleep.

So there is the agenda. I'll spice the site up more as I have time and motivation. But I plan one posting on here every day what I did, what I ate, maybe the music I listened to, and any insights for the day, from Scripture or otherwise. Of course I am normally on call for EMS, so this schedule is at the mercy of that.

Acceptable cardio workouts include:
Running
Fast Mtn Biking
Swimming

I may think of more.

My current stats:

165 lbs, 5' 9", I'll measure my gut sometime.

My goal is to get six pack abs, but I'm happy that that means getting healthy. Also, I am excited about the prospect of getting stuff done outside in the morning, when it's still "cool" (it was 82 this morning). I can catch up on sleep during the hot afternoons. You see when I am forced to expect to be up all night, every night, doing EMS things, I have got to sleep when I can.

My eatings for the morning:
food=calories
1 banana= 105
3 small eggs over hard with Cholula sauce  = 180
1 strawberry smoothie* = 460
1 gulp V8 Fusion = 55

Breakfast total=800
*stawberry smoothie=4 frozen strawberries, 1/2 frozen banana, 1 cup vanilla yogurt, 1tsp frozen orange juice concentrate, 3/4 cup skim milk

10:00 snack nectarine = 50 calories

Lunch

Ramen=190
Oatmeal bar = 140
Lunch total = 330

afternoon snack salad = 55 calories

This morning, Basshunter's Dota got me going.
And thank goodness for Pandora. I made a station of dance music, which I listened to today.

Cheers!
